Awais Khaleel

Awais Khaleel is an Associate in the firm's Litigation Practice Group. He works tirelessly in his representation of clients seeking fair, just, and equitable results in several legal areas, including civil litigation, civil rights, political and election law, energy law, and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Pines Bach, Awais was the Chairman of the Wisconsin State Ethics Commission, which ensures government accountability by overseeing Wisconsin's lobbying, campaign finance, and ethics laws.

An experienced advocate, Awais has served as counsel for over twenty-five jury trials and hundreds of contested hearings. Prior to joining Pines Bach, Awais was an Assistant District Attorney in the Dane County District Attorney's Office where he primarily prosecuted crimes against children, sensitive and other felony-level crime, and led the office's prosecution of hate crimes. His prior legal experience includes serving as an associate with a boutique Washington, DC civil rights law firm that represents victims of employment discrimination. Awais also served as counsel for a renewable energy-focused private equity fund and a human rights organization promoting gender equity. Prior to becoming an attorney, Awais was a Wisconsin-based campaign professional.

Awais is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Howard University School of Law. He formerly served as a Democratic National Committeeman, the Vice President of the College Democrats of America, and a member of the Administrative Committee for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. He also served as the statewide District Attorney Representative for the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections' Council on Offender Reentry and a Commissioner for the City of Madison's Affirmative Action Commission. He is a founding board member for the Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance.

A Wisconsin native, Awais currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and two children. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Wisconsin.
