Biography

Elizabeth Pierson is an attorney in the litigation practice group. She represents and advises clients primarily in matters related to labor and employment, elections and voting, and appellate litigation. She has experience litigating in state trial and appellate courts, federal district court, and before administrative agencies, as well as negotiating positive outcomes outside of court.

Elizabeth brings a creative, strategic, and client-centered approach to her practice. As a former civil legal aid lawyer, she is used to fighting for the underdog and will look for every possible avenue and argument to help her clients achieve their desired result. Besides practicing for two years in legal aid, Elizabeth previously worked at a non-profit focused on pro-democracy impact litigation and served as a judicial term clerk to the Honorable Edmond E. Chang on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Recent successes include:

  • Briefing, arguing, and winning before the Wisconsin Supreme Court a case on due process rights;
  • Helping to secure a seven-figure settlement in an AIR21 whistleblower retaliation case; and
  • Overturning a state agency’s termination decision through the state personnel appeals process.

Outside the office, Elizabeth volunteers her time to support the next generation of lawyers, including through a local mentorship program and as a volunteer judge with the State Bar’s High School Mock Trial Program. She also serves on the Board of the Madison Public Library.
