Biography

Michael J. Short joins Pines Bach in an “Of Counsel” position with the firm. Prior to joining Pines Bach, Michael practiced as a solo practitioner in his eponymously named office, Law Office of Michael J. Short.

Michael’s practice areas include homicide, white collar, stalking, domestic violence, drunk driving, traffic citations, and any of the associated mischief that college students seem to get involved in while transitioning into adulthood. Attorney Short has handled cases in over half of Wisconsin's counties and has conducted trials in the states of Nevada and Washington. Michael has taken hundreds of court-appointed cases in his career and served multiple stints as the coordinator for the Criminal Defense Project for Dane County.

Born and raised in southwest Wisconsin, he attended Dodgeville High School, UW-Madison, and then ventured out to Washington to attend Gonzaga University School of Law.

An avid sports fan, Michael attends various Badgers, Bucks, Packers, and Zags games. He’s a season-ticket holder for the Brewers and attends over 50 games per year, at which he generously shares his critiques with the umpires within earshot.
